Best Face Washes for Kids and Tweens: Sephora vs Drugstore Picks

By Mauve Juliette

Let’s be real, Sephora is kind of a magical place, but not every face wash has to be expensive. I’ve tested few popular cleansers for kids and tweens to see which ones are gentle, and worth buying.

Ever Eden is one of the first face washes I ever used. It’s super gentle, smells nice, and it’s made just for kids! I think it’s great for ages 7 to 9 when you're just getting into skincare. It helps you feel clean and confident (especially if you're starting to notice a few breakouts). But once you hit around 10 or 11, your skin changes, and you might need something stronger. Oh, and yes, it is from Sephora!

Next up is Drunk Elephant—I KNOW, it’s kinda scary to try at first because people say it’s too strong for kids. But I’m 10 and I actually had a good experience with it! It didn’t hurt my skin, and it made my face feel super clean. I wouldn’t recommend it for younger kids, though. Maybe wait until you're around 10 to 12 before you give it a try. It’s at Sephora too

But not all the good stuff has to be fancy or from Sephora! CeraVe and Cetaphil are both awesome, and you can find them at Target, Walmart, or even Walgreens. CeraVe is my go-to because it works on every skin type and even helps with eczema and dryness. Cetaphil is super gentle that even babies can use it, and celebs like Reese Witherspoon and Kim Kardashian love it! They’re both great choices if you want something simple and safe.

So what’s the verdict? If you’re just starting out, go for Ever Eden or Cetaphil. If you’re a bit older, CeraVe is a total win. And if you’re brave (and your skin is ready), Drunk Elephant might surprise you. Just remember, skincare isn’t about being trendy. It’s about knowing what your skin type is and what it needs.

Tip: Always patch test new skincare products, and ask a parent or dermatologist if you have sensitive skin, eczema, acne, or irritation.
