Summer Survival Tips for Tweens: Sunscreen, and Other Basics
By Mauve Juliette
Don’t get me wrong, summer is so much fun. Pool days, hanging out with friends, no school... what’s not to love? But let's be real..the heat, sweat, dehydration, and sunburns can make summer a lot less fun. In this post, I am sharing my favourite summer survival tips for tweens, including ways to stay cool, hydrated, and protected from the sun using products you can find at the drugstore.
1. Why Sunscreen is so important during the summer
Yes, I know it’s obvious, but seriously don’t skip sunscreen. It's not just for beach days. If you're outside you need it. I really like Sun Bum. It smells good and works super well.
Just remember to reapply every 2 hours, especially if you’re swimming or sweating. No one wants to deal with lobster skin. Trust me I have gotten really bad sunburn once. It does not feel good. Don’t risk it.
2. Stay Hydrated
Okay, this one’s a MUST. Drink water all. the. time. Bring a water bottle everywhere. If you think you've had enough, drink more. Summer heat can sneak up on you fast, and being dehydrated feels awful.
Also bonus tips! frozen fruit in water=fancy water.
3. Best Deodorant Tips for Staying Fresh in the summer
If you're outside running around, playing sports, biking, or just existing in the heat please wear deodorant. Every day. It’s honestly a lifesaver. No one wants to be the "smelly kid."
Pick one that works for you (there are some great aluminum-free ones if your skin’s sensitive), and don’t forget to apply it before heading out.
So yeah, those are my 3 top tips to not just survive, but actually enjoy summer without melting into a sweaty mess. You got this!
