How to Organize a Cluttered Bedroom: 3 Easy Storage Ideas + Simple Tips
By Mauve Juliette van Marle
Do you have a cluttered room? No matter how many shelves you have, it still doesn't look aesthetic! Sounds pretty hard to get out of, right? Well, I'll let you in on a little secret: I had the same problem! I went from having a super chaotic room to one that feels much prettier and way more organized. So today I'm going to show you all the tips and tricks that helped me organize my bedroom and make it look 10x prettier!
1. Wire Pin Board
This one is a lifesaver! If you're a person with tons of photos, sports ribbons, certificates, or little keepsakes, this will definitely help. The best part is that you can find wire pin boards in lots of different colours to match your room. Instead of keeping your pictures and achievements in a bin, why not display them?
2. Stuffed Animal Hammock
Do we have a stuffie lover here? If you're like me and have literally 50 stuffed animals, here's a great solution. Just like the name says, it's a hammock for your stuffed animals! The best thing is that you can fit around 12–14 in one, so you can even rotate them. One week you can display your blue ones, the next week your purple ones, and then your green ones!
3. Rolling Cart
If you've got tons of candles, books, art supplies, or notebooks, then this is definitely up your alley! A rolling cart helps keep everything organized and makes your room look much tidier. And yes, it rolls! Most have three tiers, giving you lots of storage without taking up much room. The best part? You can also use it in the bathroom, guest room, or even the kitchen. Now that's a 4-in-1!
Tip 1: Stick to a Colour Palette
Try to keep your room in one colour palette, and avoid having one colour in just one section of the room. Instead, spread your colours throughout the space to make everything look more balanced. Some cute colour palettes you could try are Tequila Sunrise, Berry Calm, and Princess Bubblegum.
Tip 2: Follow the 70% Rule
Try to keep at least 70% of your flat surfaces and floor clear. When a desk or nightstand is completely covered in stuff, it instantly makes the room feel more cluttered—and it usually becomes a place to pile even more things. And you definitely don't want that!
Tip 3: Use the "Maybe" Box
If you can't let go of something just yet, put it in a box somewhere out of sight, like under your bed or in a closet. If you haven't needed anything from that box in 3–6 months, it's probably time to donate those items or move them into long-term storage.
And there you have it! My favourite tips for organizing a cluttered bedroom and making it look much prettier. Even making one or two of these changes can make a huge difference.
